Patient history: 58 year-old woman diagnosed with rectal adenocarcinoma that was treated with rectal resection. It was also simultaneously perfomed hystero-salping-oophorectomy.

- The myometrium has a nodular appearance (stipled lines) and dialated cysts, consistent with adenomyosis (arrows), i.e. endometrial glands displaced into the myometrium.
