Magnesium in serum, plasma (Mg2+)

Magnesium is measured under conditions that give suspicions of magnesium deficiency or surplus (such as magnesium transport in the kidneys).

Magnesium (plasma, serum)0,71 - 0,94 mmol/L

Magnesium is present as divalent cations (Mg2+) where half is found in the skeleton and about the same amount intracellularly, while about 1% is extracellular. It functions as a cofactor for many enzymes.
