Uterus with clear cell adenocarcinoma (Type II)

Clinical story

64 years old female with tumor in the uterine corpus. Suspicion of myometrial invasion by MRI. Hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and lymphadenectomy.

Comments

Section through the uterine wall shows an endometrial polyp with development of an adenocarcinoma with cells that have overtly atypical nuclei and clear cytoplasm. Cells have distinct cell borders and line glandular spaces with hobnailing.

To recognize type II endometrial adenocarcinoma and understand its etiology, diagnosis, staging and prognosis.
