Clinical story

76 years old female with a pelvic tumor, admitted for surgical treatment.

Frozen section from the left ovary showed an adenocarcinoma. The uterus, ovaries, and omentum were removed.

Comments

Grossly, the adnexa contained a large tumor, approximately 8 cm in diameter, most likely originating from the left ovary. Section from the tumor in relation to the left ovary. Microscopically, ovarian stroma with infiltration of an adenocarcinoma with cysts of different sizes, with simple to pseudostratified mucinous epithelium. Cells are atypical. The cysts are filled with mucous, and infiltration into the ovarian stroma is apparent.
