5. Aortic valve From the 4 chamber view, we can study the aortic valve by depicting a 5 chamber view. The probe is angled slightly backwards, without changing the contact point on the skin. The image will then depict the anterior part of the heart and the aortic valve appears in the middle of the image. We also add the color Doppler. The blood flow here appears blue as the flow is away from the probe in this projection, on its way out to the aorta. An aortic insufficience will then appear as a red flow back towards the ventricle. We can also measure the speed of the blood flow out through the aorta by adding a pulse Doppler.
