This is a 1 µm-thick section from plastic-embedded material and stained with para-phenylendiamine (PFD) and toluidine blue. It therefore looks differently from the human sections, which are stained with hematoxylin and eosin (H+E). PFD stains lipids dark brown. This means that accumulations of steroid hormones and their precursors are shown to advantage in this section. Toluidine blue stains mainly cell nuclei.
In this section you can identify the same structures as in section 9. You see secondary follicles, with the oocyte, the granulosa cells and the theca folliculi. |
