’Chromium is only a small part of the puzzle in the control of weight loss and body composition, and its effects, if present, will be small compared with those of exercise and a well-balanced diet.’ (Richard Anderson (1998) Nutrition Reviews 56, 266-270)

There is no conclusive evidence that chromium supplementation can reduce the desire for sweet foods, or have a slimming effect. On the contrary, there are studies showing the opposite effect. Women taking just supplement (0.4 mg Cr picolinate/day) showed significant weight increase, while those combining supplement with a training programme decreased in weight. (Grant et al. (1997) Chromium and exercise training: effect on obese women, Med.Sci. Sports Exerc. 8, 992-998.)
