RETINYL ESTERS

  • Retinyl esters are transformed to retinol in the lumen. Receptor-mediated saturable uptake in the enterocytes after ingenstion of physiological concentrations of retinyl esters: at pharmocological concentrations the uptake is not saturable.
  • Absorption: 70-90 % (high also with large intakes)
